Our Story

Ma Pub Group is a Liverpool-based independent hospitality business, passionate about experience. No gimmicks, no cheap sells - we deliver a quality experience with every visit. In an age where it's far easier to stay at home, we give you a reason to go out and to keep returning to us. Our guests leave us having experienced value - great service with food and drinks made with pride - real personalities with a passion for what they do.

We have taken hospitality sites that are closed businesses or have been in terminal decline - the sites that no one else can make work. With love, flair and working with the local community we turn these locations around and make them the vital, vibrant and good neighbours that the community love, creating new destinations and improving circuits and footfall.

Ma Boyle’s Alehouse & Eatery

A Liverpool institution and widely regarded as one of the cities finest watering holes. These days Ma’s is equally regarded for its food offering as well as its drinks.
Ma’s was reborn by us in May 2015, following two decades of terminal decline and closure in 2013. It quickly re-established itself as one of Liverpool's premier independent hospitality destinations and is beloved from locals and tourists alike.

Nova Scotia

Named and inspired from Liverpool’s forgotten Nova Scotia district that was once twinned with the Canadian province.
Opened in June 2022, this beautiful site combines the best of historic and future Liverpool. As well as a stunning interior, Nova also features an external terrace overlooking the Canning Dock on Liverpool’s beautiful waterfront.

Tempest on Tithebarn

A pandemic baby Tempest opened in May 2021 and is a flagship hospitality space situated in Capital and Centric’s Tempest building. Five private hire spaces spread over 7000 sqft of trading areas including meeting rooms, basement club room, roof terrace and main bar. Getting the most out of the vast space, we even have beehives on the roof, for use in our signature cocktails, food dishes and direct purchase.

Newington Temple

The newest addition to the Ma’s family, and takes us back to our roots - a traditional wet-led classic pub. Newington is a historic tavern dating back to the mid 1800’s that’s had many reinventions over the years - but the latest will be the best yet.
Opening mid-March 2025, Newington Temple will be reborn with all the classic touch-points that are a feature of a Ma Pub Group location.
